Gotherburg-BASED PHOTOGRAPHy BY Jakob nyman

Jakob Nyman is a Gothenburg based photographer. Their juxtaposition between light and shadow punctuates their signature style. Jakob believes photos are icons, a way to highlight the core of the subjects

August

This is August, one of the chillest dude on the planet. This shoot came about through me sending him a message and saying, hi dude, wanna come be a model? Yuh, 10 min? Sure. We wanted to show his personality, which was really easy since he was willing to do “whatever”. We basically just walked around, hoping on-top of anything that caught our eye, and that’s pretty much exactly his personality. Playful, laidback, and honest.

Tilde

This is Tilde, one of my oldest friends. For a while we worked together at a burger-joint in our hometown, just flipping burgers. After a staff-meeting, I decided to grab my camera, then we went out to a café close by. I had seen her outfit and immediately thought of the café, thinking; oh man, we need to go take some photos. The colors complimented each other perfectly and it was a great experience, getting to shoot my friend like this.

Sillhouettos

Silhouettes are great. Just showing contours can in a roundabout way show more of the subject, but at the same time it adds a bit of mystery. None of the subjects know what the others look like. I am the only one that knows who’s who. For sure at least. Many of the pictures did not have this purpose in mind at first, but I think they came out great. The best photography series are often not what they were planned to be.
